Crossing borders: the four multi-country routes we love most

Two countries is a holiday; three is the trip of a lifetime. After sixty years and countless border posts, these are the crossings worth making.

Crossing borders: the four multi-country routes we love most

The East African Arc — Kenya → Tanzania → Rwanda. Muthaiga and Karen, then Kiligolf beneath Kilimanjaro, then Gary Player's Kigali — woven through the Mara, the Serengeti and the gorillas. The greatest hits of the east.

Falls & Fairways — South Africa → Zimbabwe → Zambia. Leopard Creek and Sun City, then Elephant Hills and Leopard Rock — anchored by the Kruger, Hwange and the thunder of Victoria Falls.

Desert, Delta & Dunes — Namibia → Botswana → the Falls. Desert golf at Rossmund and Omeya, then Phakalane — through Sossusvlei, Etosha, the Okavango and Chobe. The widest landscapes on the continent.

The Grand Traverse — Cape → Garden Route → Kruger. Fancourt and Pearl Valley to Leopard Creek — vineyards, ocean and bushveld in one classic, comfortable journey.

And the advice we give everyone: don't try to do four countries in a fortnight. We'll talk you out of it, kindly, because the joy is in the slowing down.

We'll build the wild, and the golf, around that — and nothing else.
