The route

Where you go, and why

Stop 012 nights

The Victoria Falls Hotel

Begin at the legend itself: the 1904 grand hotel whose garden frames the Falls' bridge and rising spray. Walk the rainforest trail beside the thundering curtain, then play Elephant Hills Golf Course — the Gary Player layout above the Zambezi gorge where warthog and antelope share the fairways.

STAY  The Victoria Falls Hotel

Stop 023 nights

Somalisa Camp, Hwange National Park

Travel into Zimbabwe's greatest park, home to some 30,000 elephants, and settle into Somalisa's luxury tents — famous for the elephants that drink from the camp's own waterhole, sometimes within metres of the deck. All meals and twice-daily game drives included; the guiding here is widely considered the best on the continent.

STAY  Somalisa Camp, Hwange

Stop 034 nights

Harare — Sandalwood Lodge

Fly to the capital for the golfing heart of the journey: Royal Harare Golf Club — established 1898, renovated by home-grown major champion Nick Price, and host of nearly half of all Zimbabwe Opens — plus the challenging modern layout of Borrowdale Brooke Golf Course beneath the kopjes and the parkland charm of Chapman Golf Club. Afternoons go to Harare's galleries, craft markets and surprisingly excellent food.

STAY  Sandalwood Lodge, Harare

Stop 043 nights

Bumi Hills Safari Lodge, Lake Kariba

End on the shore of one of the largest man-made lakes on earth, where elephant herds wander the water's edge below your suite. A sunset cruise on Kariba's island-scattered expanse — drink in hand, fish eagles calling — is the finale this journey deserves.

STAY  Bumi Hills Safari Lodge, Lake Kariba

Good questions

Asked before you booked

How much does Zimbabwe: Classic Golf & Safari cost?

This journey is priced on request because seasonality moves the numbers meaningfully. For an exact figure, use the Price a Private Version tool — adjust the nights, rounds and experiences and our quoting engine returns your private price, checked by a specialist, usually within one working day.

How many rounds of golf are on this journey?

4 rounds are built in — Elephant Hills Golf Course, Royal Harare Golf Club, Borrowdale Brooke Golf Course, Chapman Golf Club. Every round can be kept, swapped or dropped when you price your private version.

Can my non-golfing partner come?

Absolutely — this is the heart of how we design. While the golfers play, the Gallery programme runs parallel experiences (game drives, spas, wine, walks, markets), and everyone reunites for lunch or sundowners. Non-golfers never sit out a day.

When is the best time to take this journey?

Best months are Year-round — we'll time it to the seasons. We will be honest about the trade-offs of any month you are considering — every season has its version of this trip.

Where will we stay?

Exact, named properties at every stop — on this journey: The Victoria Falls Hotel, Somalisa Camp, Hwange, Sandalwood Lodge, Harare, Bumi Hills Safari Lodge, Lake Kariba. Every property is hand-picked from our register; none paid for, none reciprocated.

Do I need a visa for Zimbabwe and Zambia?

Most nationalities buy a visa on arrival, and the KAZA UniVisa covers both Zimbabwe and Zambia in one — ideal for Victoria Falls trips that cross the bridge. We will confirm the current rules for your passport at booking.

When is Victoria Falls at its best?

Fullest flow is February to May after the rains — maximum thunder, maximum spray. By September to November the water thins on the Zambian side but the Zimbabwean side always shows, and low water is the season for white-water rafting and Devil's Pool. Every month has its version; we will be straight about what yours will look like.

Is the golf in Zimbabwe well maintained?

Honestly: it varies. Elephant Hills has a wonderful Gary Player layout whose conditioning fluctuates — the wildlife and the setting more than repay it — while Royal Harare, Borrowdale Brooke and Leopard Rock are kept to a genuinely good standard.

We'll build the wild, and the golf, around that — and nothing else.
